Admission to the Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program
TCU's Davies School of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology with two tracks:
Our program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Graduates of our program are eligible to begin their clinical fellowship to earn the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and are also eligible for Texas state licensure as a speech-language pathologist. For applicants seeking licensure outside of Texas, please review specific qualifications for that state.
Graduates of our program go on to careers in medical SLP such as hospitals and rehabilitation centers, public and private schools, as well as private practice.

Application Process
Your application for admission will be evaluated once the following are received and verified through the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application System (CSDCAS):
- Completed CSDCAS application by January 15th (this includes required essays and resume; see CSDCAS for specific essay questions)
- Three letters of recommendation (link is sent directly from CSDCAS)
- Official copies of all transcripts of your college/university work sent directly to CSDCAS
- If you are an international student applicant, please mail/email TOEFL scores directly

Ensure your CSDCAS application is completed in CSDCAS by January 15. Applications not completed in CSDCAS by January 15 will not be reviewed. Visit the CSDCAS Help Center for more information.
Applying to the EBSLP track?
Please ensure that you check the appropriate box on the application form indicating that you are applying for the EBSLP track. Once all your application materials have been received, you will be contacted by phone regarding your interest in the EBSLP track.
Academic Preparation
Students are considered for acceptance to the graduate program upon completion of an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders, or upon completion of a bachelor’s degree in a field outside of speech-language pathology.
All students applying to the MS in speech-language pathology program must successfully complete a course in statistics, physics or chemistry, biology and social/behavioral science. Also, successful completion of the following prerequisite courses is required:
- Audiology
- Speech and Hearing Science
- Phonetics
- Anatomy and Physiology of Speech and Hearing Mechanisms
- Language Development
- Clinical Methods
- Aural Rehabilitation
- Neurological Substrates of Communication & Swallowing
In addition to prerequisite coursework, students must obtain 25 hours of guided clinical observation prior to enrolling in the graduate program.
