The Process
Step 1: Apply to TCU as a nursing major.
Step 2: Complete the nursing supplement.
If admitted and entering TCU as a declared nursing major, you are automatically placed in the traditional nursing program, provided you meet all prerequisite criteria.
To stay in the program, all nursing majors must uphold a TCU cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
TCU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requires the completion of 120 credit hours: 63 nursing and 57 non-nursing.
While it is not a requirement of TCU or TCU Nursing, some clinical placements may require nursing students to be fully vaccinated prior to starting their clinical.
First-year students applying to TCU should check with TCU Undergraduate Admissions for application deadlines.
Students transferring to TCU for prerequisite completion should contact TCU Transfer Admissions.
For direct applicants to the nursing program:
- NursingCAS application opens – September 1
- NursingCAS application submitted and verified – February 1
Admission decisions will be communicated by April 1.
Applicants to TCU's undergraduate nursing major must answer the following supplemental questions:
Share a moment when nursing became your calling, highlighting your sincere desire to help others (recommended length: 250 words).
Describe your academic and experiential preparations for pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (recommended length: 250 words).
Access these questions through an online form linked in the my.tcu.edu portal. Portal registration instructions will be provided after applying.
Response Due Dates
Early Action and Early Decision One – November 15
Regular Decision and Early Decision Two – February 15
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a four-hour computer-administered exam required for application to TCU Nursing, an assessment of a student’s academic preparedness for the nursing program.
- Direct admit students must take the TEAS exam prior to beginning nursing coursework.
- Transfer students must complete the TEAS exam prior to admission.
The exam includes four sections:
- Reading
- Math
- Science
- English & Language Usage
TCU’s nursing program recommends that students obtain an Academic Preparedness Level of Proficient, Advanced, or Exemplary on the TEAS exam.
TEAS testing is only available remotely using ATI Remote Online Proctoring. Students will need to create an account at ATI before they can register. Students will need to select Texas Christian University as their institution.

If a nursing major leaves TCU and wants to return after a full semester, they must apply for reenrollment.
The Registrar's Office will seek approval from the Dean of the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences if the student meets enrollment criteria.
Reentering students must meet the admission requirements in the TCU Bulletin at the time of reentry and may need to pass comprehensive mastery exams.
